Was looking for this item and found this today.

Decent Atmos sound bar - does not have HDM 2.1 if important to you.

Only one left and sale ends today.

How did we get to the point where a soundbar is a deal at $1100?

Is Samsung an absolute legend with soundbar technology?

To be fair, it sounds pretty damn good.

If I watched more tv/movies I'd consider it

I have the 930B and it's amazingly good. This one is even better so for this price it's pretty good.

Personally I don't trust Samsung. Their warrenties are super short (1 year), and they don't stand behind the customer when you get a lemon.

I tried a few options including avr and small speakers, but this is a great option for limited space.

I have the previous model, the Q950A, and I paid around $1200 open box. Honestly, I could not be happier. The sound quality is amazing. This year's model is supposedly even better....so for this price, I would 100% buy it if I didn't already have one.

Agree. Been burned by Samsung in the past. Phones, TVs, microwave, soundbar, etc.

Samsung audio products have vastly improved since they bought Harman Kardon and AKG, but it's still not enough for me to buy their products.

Not a troll post, I am genuinely trying to understand this myself. Let me paraphrase the above post.

Sound waves are all about power. I know you can craftily design speakers to create a "larger" sound profile, but in the end, to truly fill up a large space, you need bigger speakers. At least this holds true for sound waves below 160(ish) Hertz. Bass truly needs size and subwooders need to be large. Yes a lot of soundbars have a connected subwoofer, but this doesn't explain the cost.

Sound waves above 5000 Hertz (I believe) only really need tiny twitters and to tell the truth, accurately reproducing sound above this threshold is what historically determined how "premium" the sound was perceived to be (because older gen speakers struggled with this accurate treble reproduction). Again, you do not need expensive speakers to reproduce this sound.

Dialogue and most routine sound occurs between 250 and 5000 Hertz. Nothing special about these so the magic can't lie in this range

So is it the "electronic function"? Having multiple HDMI and eARC ports? Is it the equalization? What do soundbars do really well that justifies these premium prices? Most folks use them within a relatively small space, so saying it "sounds amazing" within this coonfined space doesn't say much really.
I am genuinely trying to understand what is going on here.
With premium smartphones, there are 3 objective indices you can use to differentiate them from cheap phones,
1. The processor - premium phones do not suffer the horrific lagging and stuttering you experience with cheaper phones because of better processor speeds
2. The cameras usually have better resolution, night light, color saturation, etc.
3. The screens have better resolution, more accurate image reproduction, etc.

What do these premium soundbars offer at these price points?

Convenience, ease of set-up and movement if you ever need to. I have no need to buy a dedicated receiver and 6+ speakers when my Q990B sounds as good as 8t does while being far less obtrusive than a dedicated receiver+ speakers.

Sound quality is really good too. Sure, you might be able to do better with a receiver and individual speakers, but it's more of a hassle for a lot of people.
.
At least it's not the $4000 US price of the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.2 set-up.

Because this particular soundbar is arguably the best one on the market. it has additional speakers embedded in the bar itself and comes with two rear speakers and a subwoofer that deliver 11.1.4 surround sound dolby atmos experience. This is by no means your ordinary soundbar and was sold for $2300 until a few months ago when it got reduced to $1300 on average. This is a beast of a soundbar

Do the rears just require power to each and wirelessly connect to the bar or are they connected to the subwoofer (yes I’m lazy to search for it online lol)

I mean, it's really not a sound bar. It's a sound system that has a sound bar as one of the speakers. Though I'm skeptical of something that would label itself a 11.1.4ch speaker system. That shit needs real standardization.
