[Best Buy] Sony HT-CT800 2.1 Soundbar ($378 after PM)

Good soundbar, was on sale for $399 during BF and boxing week. Badboy has it for $398 right now, other retailers are all back to $599. Got it price matched at BB for the additional 10% price difference discount.

Please add retailer and deal price to the thread title. TIA

Sony just announced (a few days ago at ces) some decent/better priced atmos sound bars (3.1 so no idea how it works but they announced it) starting at $600 usd. That should have a waterfall effect on prices of other sound bars (not entry level/non atmos) like this in the near future.

This sondbar does have the 4k pass through...

If I had the extra money U think I would have gone for this one over the Vizio.

I still have the old CT150, love it as it has 3 HDMI pass-through, plus it was only 149 on clearance when I bought it.

Those are "pseudo Atmos" soundbars and the surround effects will be simulated. Yamaha already has one on the market with DTS Virtual X (YAS-207) which was also on sale for 399 last month as well. While they are good implementations, being virtual surround they have their limitations.

Yes it does indeed. It also supports HDCP 2.2 on all HDMI inputs. I have this and have my PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and 4k android box connected directly to this soundbar and connected to my TV through ARC. HDR support on all HDMI inputs when you change it from Standard to Enhanced HDMI in the soundbar settings.

Agreed but it should still drop the prices on soundbar like this when they officially come out. That or this becomes discontinued/clearance.

got my HT-CT780 a few years back on a Memory Express boxing week deal @$250. dont know whats the diff btwn the CT780 & CT800 but I like mine. I run everything thru it including a standalone chromecast. good sound for HT, music not so much but I'm assuming thats normal with most if not all soundbars.

I used to have on of those too. Great sound bar, I just found it was underpowered for the room I was using it in. Ended up replacing it with the Yamaha YSP-2200 sound bar system instead.

Depends on the sound bar. Some do a good job with music playback.

Man I'm tempted, been looking for a 4k passthrough sound bar and this one is one of the more affordable ones

havent hear many soundbars so you could be correct. that said, all the soundbars I've heard have pretty much shaatt SQ lacking in soundstage, imaging & depth, clarity & transparency, dynamics & extension, etc etc - compared with a decent mid-fi stereo rig but then thats to be expected. I guess we all have different tastes & ofcos, different ears.

same here.... I still use the ct150 because it's convenient and decent enough for TV's sound. But for music it's just terrible. Again, music on all the soundbar demos they have at BadBuy and Costco sounds worse than cheap bookshelf speakers.

I was considering the CT800 however I ended up with the YAS-207. Haven't had a chance to set it up yet though!
