[Best Buy] Thinkware Q800PRO 2K Wi-Fi Dash Cam with Rear-View Camera and Hardwiring Cable - $329.97

Have been monitoring high end dashcam prices for a while, this is the cheapest I've seen the Q800 Pro (both front and rear cams )being sold at a legit store (not a grey market/no warranty store).

This was on sale for $379.99 for both Black Friday and Boxing Day at BestBuy.

For those that know about blackboxmycar.ca (.com), their pricing have not been competitive since they went "big" (into the US market). I have not seen blackboxmycar sell the q800 at this price point ever.

Q800pro comes with voltage controls built-in. With the hardwiring kit, you can control which voltage you want the cam to shut down before it over drains your battery.

As for install, there are many guides online that will help you get it done. (or you can get it professionally installed)

Thinkware sells an OBD port cable which makes this plug and play. I have this cam and using the car’s OBD port which is typically right were the driver’s leg is, works flawlessly except when you shut off the engine it takes about 1-2mins before turning to Parking Mode.

Also, don’t buy this for its cloud features. It is not practical and also for some reason the software just crashes whenever I play any kind of video from the microsd - installed on both my pc and laptop and same issues.

Picture quality wise, expect about the same quality as the Viofo a119 which I have as well, which I believe is 1080p.

Buy this for the dual cam feature - for that, it works very well.

I currently have the F200 installed (front and back cams as well as the TWA-SH wiring kit) and would really like to upgrade to the Q800Pro for the better resolution. Does anyone know of a good way to check that the wiring doesn't change, so I won't have to rerun cables (only swap the cameras)?

TIA

My F800 uses the barrel connector for power and a microUSB for the connection to the back camera. You should be able to compare the manuals too if you want to confirm for yourself.

As someone that ran an F800 Pro with parking mode + voltage protection, in the long run I would not recommend going this route. Eventually you will wear down the battery’s ability to hold charge and crank your starter. Sadly I learned this by prematurely killing a perfectly fine 4 year old battery and another new battery within a year.

Car batteries aren’t designed for this kind of steady power draw without an alternator running. There’s a reason that hybrids and even electrics still have 12V car batteries despite having larger, higher voltage batteries to power the drivetrain. There’s also a reason for dash cam-specific batteries, beyond longer run time. Save yourself the cost and headache of a dead car battery and either not run parking mode or invest in a dash cam battery.

I like this deal. I bought the f800 dual cam from Best Buy a year-and-a-half ago for 299.99 (Black Friday) and bought a hardwiring kit for 39.99. The fact that this q800 pro includes the hardwire is amazing. Seriously considering the q800 for front, f800 for back, and the rear cams for sides just for fun.

lol always wanted to try a setup to cover the sides...this is a great idea. Not sure if theres enough power from the car battery to power 4 cameras in parking mode though...

Just went through this exact same situation... can u recommend a dash cam battery and how that could be set up especially since the dash cam is hard wired?

I have no experience with them myself, so I can't really recommend one. A brand I've seen repeatedly in this space is Cellink Neo, but I find them to be very expensive. I turned off the parking mode and have learned to live without it.

Parking mode is important, minor scratches to the front bumper happened to me twice, and the other driver was pretending nothing happened.

I sent the clip via insurance and they deal the rest of the case smoothly.

U may bite the bullet to get the battery before anything happens to ur car during parking mode. Hope it helps
