Best Buy Took Away the "Sold at Best Buy" Slider Filter (It's Back to Normal - Nothing to See Here)

This is horrible news, as the Best Buy site is like Amazon, absolutely filled with sketchy items from 3rd-party Marketplace vendors. But at least Amazon has the "Prime" filter right at the top - in order to delete all this junk you need to search under "sellers" then click the various "Best Buy" or "Best Buy Business" options, something they obviously hide on purpose.

Now when I search for anything, I am inundated with page after page after page of absolute JUNK from Marketplace vendors, few of which even fit my search criteria. I realize why BB did this, but I hope they also realize they have made it impossible for anyone to shop for actual Best Buy items.

Why do companies make it so freaking difficult to actually shop for their products? I guess Best Buy is just about ready to go bankrupt and simply don't care anymore, but if I wanted a pile of cheap China crap flooding my search results, I'd go to eBay.

It's still there. I just looked at monitors and the Best Buy Only option is there.

I just did multiple searches and category loads in the Videogames section and it's not showing up for me, only "Available at Nearby Stores".

I do see it's still available on "Monitors" so maybe Best Buy is slowly but surely deleting it from various sections, and those just haven't been nuked yet?

It looks like it's coming back, as I just noticed the option load under PS4 Consoles...

Looks like it might be a technical issue or a "test" of a new format, but things seem to be getting back to normal.

Most of my searches were at 7:30 to 8:30AM, and maybe BB was trying out a new trick to see how many people called to complain? It sure got my attention as it was impossible to actually shop on the site, especially as many Marketplace vendors miscategorize their items like mad.

I know, it seems it was only an issue earlier in the morning, and now things are slowly getting back to normal. At 7:30, it was not there for sure under PS4/Xbox Consoles as I tried/reloaded on multiple PCs, browsers, and phones. Same thing, and there was only an "In Store" slider.

People probably called/emailed and complained, and BB either "fixed" it or stopped their "flood the site with Marketplace listings" experiment.

If Best Buy has no stock of anything in a category then it won't show the "Best Buy Only" toggle. It could be that there was no stock at the time you had checked.

They definitely had stock of at least 1 PS4 and several Xbox One consoles, and once I enabled the "Best Buy" option under "Sellers" they showed up as usual. Plus, I am looking at the PS5 Consoles, and there is zero stock, but the "Best Buy Only" slider is still present (see below).

The reason I jumped on this change is that as we all know, BB is in a tough financial situation before the pandemic (they were structurally bankrupt a few years ago) and I fully expect them to really start pushing their sketchy Marketplace vendors as a valuable revenue source. Due to this, I really don't think this was a "system error" and was probably more of an early morning "customer test" to see how many people reacted, and possibly if it increased Marketplace sales.

At some point in the future, I predict that the "Best Buy Only" slider will disappear and never come back.

And here's the PS4 Console page now, with the "Best Buy Only" slider now back in action, and present and accounted for:

Some might call it an "early morning system glitch", but I'm leaning towards a "customer test on flooding the system with Marketplace items" type experiment.

But either way, it looks like customers responded and it's back to normal... for now.
