Is 12a enough to power a 8000BTU portable AC?

Is it even okay to power on/off a portable AC from the plug or should only the AC power button be used for some reason?

I just bought from bestbuy, and my box says max load 15A 1800w

Seems I got the REV 4

This smart plug has handled my ac, desktop gaming computer and 5 other appliances plugged into it just fine the last 6 months, assuming I am still under 15A but it's gotta be pushing it lol, I blew a 2nd one up downstairs by plugging a sauna into it for experimental purposes I wanted to see if the unit would melt....it did not melt but a fuse inside burned out and disabled the unit completely, based on this experience I will be buying more of these plugs

an 8000BTU normally uses between 6 and 8 amps, you should be ok

I recall there being anecdotal reports in the previous thread about these plugs that some people found v4 15A plugs at Best Buy. However, I bought three packs in total from Best Buy (two online, one in-store in Vancouver) a month or so ago and they were all v2.1 on the box (fine print near UPC label) and on the underside of the device. It is possible that Best Buy may have more old stock than Amazon.

Easily my two favourite parts of Kasa devices is that you don't need a hub and that there's actually a widget that works on iOS, so you don't need to open the app all the time.

These are fantastic. I bought a 2-pack last year, to replace my disappointing Wemos. No problem whatsoever with Kasa. They work as intended. I'm about to jump on this deal.

Expires today!
They did hit $25.80 on amazon.ca (thread) but for sure this deal is the cheapest I've seen.

I picked mine up this morning in Edmonton.
My box said “Lite” which was 12A.

On the shelves were the 15A versions without the “Lite”. I asked the cashier how much, and she said 19.99 too. I asked if I could just switch them and she said yes. She said they’re the exact same UPC / barcode / web code etc.

Thanks, OP!

Mine is ver: 3.0. What’s the difference between all the versions? Can firmware be upgraded?

Lamps at specific times if you don't have smartbulbs. My living room lamps turn on/off in the morning and 30 minutes before sunset.
I also use it for a fan since it has a dial to turn on instead of a button.

Connect it to Google home for maximum laziness.
