Best cellphone plan using Bell towers?

I am currently with Rogers and was looking at switching to Zoomer's $36, 800 minutes, unlimited text and 5GB. Problem is Roger has very poor signal at our home and we often miss texts and calls due to no signal.
Is there any similar plans that use Bell towers which for us are nearby.

Public Mobile 4.5GB/8.5GB for $38/$48
Lucky Mobile 5GB/8.5GB for $40/$50

Both - currently offering 2nd month free limited, limited to 3G speed, autopay must be setup.
Lucky - has unlimited throttled data when you use up your limit.

Just to clarify: you don't have to set up autopay. Autopay gets you data bonuses to give the amounts and prices listed above, typically an extra 500 MB and/or a small discount. You can still try them out with cash purchases of prepaid service, to verify reception and service quality. For a cheaper experiment, they each have a $15 and a $25 service that you can upgrade later.

For Lucky, they have slightly different promotions depending on where you get your SIM. At Dollarama, the SIM is just $4 and has a gift kickback of $20. However, at Walmart and other partners, the card is $10 and may have bonuses available later that are worth more. Best example would be the occasional 1-day flash sales for Lucky's $40+ plans with a 3 GB bonus. A couple of users have later reduced their monthly to $25 and retained the bonus.

Thanks for the info. Good idea, maybe I will try it for a month and see how it works at the house on a cheap service first.

Regarding your indoor signal issues, did you tried the Wi-Fi Calling Feature ?

Are you out in cottage country? If so, you can turn on roaming on Rogers which would allow you on Bell towers if the signal is no good.

How fast is the "3G" speed? Is it good enough to play videos?

I have the same problem as the OP, but the closest tower near me is Telus. Would you know of any similar offers for Telus towers? I've complained to Rogers, but the rep said he checked and he sees a lot of Rogers towers near me. He said as long as you're within 20 km of a tower, you should be good. He said they're not going to spend money in putting up a new tower to accommodate a few people. So much for these companies reasoning when they increase their prices all the time: we need it to improve service to our customers.

Telus and Bell share towers so both Public (Telus) and Lucky (Bell) are options for you.

20 km away from a cellular tower and you should get good service??? That Rogers rep was speaking nonsense! Within one (1) km you should have good service.

Rogers neglected their network for a few years and only cared about rewarding shareholders. That ended when Freedom Mobile beat Rogers in PCMag and Ookla's Canadian mobile network speed test and coverage study. At the end of 2017, President and CEO Joe Natale apologized for Rogers neglecting their network and promised to turn things around. Rogers has a long way to go to catch up to the Bell/TELUS network.
TELUS: Unlimited 25 $37.50/25GB x 2 (50 GB pooled data)
AT&T Prepaid Unlimited MAX: Unlimited talk & text in and between the U.S., Canada, & Mexico, ?? GB data

I don't think that is allowed on a permanent basis.

I just picked up a Lucky sim at Dollarama for $4.00 and activated on Lucky. Now I have 3 bars signal and data working well a 3g. I really don't see any difference but I don't stream video.

Yes. I have set up friends on both Public Mobile and on Lucky Mobile and they all just use it casually with no notice of speed issues. That includes playing videos over popular streaming services.

This is in the urban and suburban areas of Ottawa. There is less guarantee of reliably high speed service in rural areas, but that's not because of a bitrate cap.

I don't see anything different for me yet. These companies just spew a lot of hot air.
