Electronic box (cable), without a doubt. They use Videotron's cabling and it's probably one of their tech that will come to your apartment to install everything. All of my friends and myself have been with them for +3 years, not a single complain.

If you signup with them, PM me for my referee. It'll allow me to save $1/month and you can then use your referee for future users :)

Montreal
The ISP is irrelevant. The best tech is cable, hands down, unless you live in one of the select few neighbourhoods with brand spanking new copper and close to a VDSLAM. Even then, you are at the mercy of the wiring your builder put in your house.

Short answer, most of Montreal, west island, and the older parts of Laval and the Shore (St-Lambert, Longueuil, Greenfield PArk) are better off on cable. Now if you live in a brand spanking new development post 2000 on some off island suburb, go ahead and try VDSL. In that case go with Bell initially, so that they can deal with all the setup headaches. Then once you get s table connection, transfer over to Teksavvy.

If you go cable which you should (I did even though I live on the shore in a newish house) I prefer ebox since they have better customer service and a better database than Teksavvy.

There is a small company called colba.net which service the core of Montreal only. They can get you ADSL 2 speeds really cheap in the 6-9mbps range. If thatis enough, I would try them. Don't expect 10MBps + connections.

videotron 20 years -- down about 2 hours per year
(apart from rare electricity outages).
never issue with customer service.

Second line -- Bell 6 months -- also no problems.

I have no experience with other providers.

I'll add a vote for ElectronicBox. Ever since I've switched to them from Videotron (stayed with cable) the only differences I've seen are the logo on the bill, a lower price, and 100 extra gigs per month. I'm on the 30 Mbps plan.

What about the others ISP's like VIF, AEI, and ColbaNet? They are not the biggest but have been around for a long time.

Gemstelecom, they are reseller of Videotron. 30mbps unlimited for $60 +tax. No issues so far, been with them for 3+ years myself.
