best low data plan 2022?

I'm looking for a low data plan, say 1-2gb max, I use a dumbphone so any data is only when I tether my laptop, which isn't very often.

I need unlimited calls and texts, but not public mobile as I want volte calling, dropping back to 3g calling in my town is a bit spotty coverage. Basically the PM $25 but with lte calling would be perfect.
Right now I'm on virgin and paying $32 for 12gb, but most months I use basically zero data.

Thank you!

well there's no point paying for data I don't use. the only reason I got it was I was supposed to get a bunch of referral credits making it almost free for 10 months. but instead of 6x$5 so far they've only given me $5.
My phone literally does calls, texts and wifi hotspot. I use the hotspot maybe once every 2 months. So I could have 100gb and it wouldnt change my life at all.

So it seems you have the 12gb for 35$ lol I see, just letting you know you can’t stack multiple referrals i forgot how much it’s limited to but, letting you know if you stay with virgin for more then 6 months and you wish to port out wingback might call and offer you deals one of which is the 1gb for 10$

Edit: Virgin Plus wants to hook both you and your BFF up with $50 in bill credits ($5/mo. For 10 months) when they switch to an eligible 2-year or BYOP plan. Maybe your plan or your referrals pans are not Eligible? I’m sure you’ve chatted with virgin about this issue?

you can stack 6 referrals. They keep saying they will fix it and apply them, but they never do. I just spoke to them today and they said they will escalate it and apply them manually. So I'll see I guess if that comes true. The plans are eligible, they all got the same plan as me at black Friday,

$10 for 1gb would be perfect. Do you know if there are any specific things I have to do to get that deal, for instance switch to a specific competitor? Thank you

It’s all ymmv hardly most get winback calls but, It would be best for you to check the rfd post for the virgin winback for switching to said competitor. Wow you tried multiple times you should make a complaint with ccts and go a further and say I’ve wasted so much time and was given the wrong information and lies and no help to help me with my situation and should also be compensated on top of this, ok back to the winback

Option 1:check the virgin winback post and figure out everything. I know you need to stay 6 months and you should port to freedom prepaid as there the cheapest and for some reason the big 3 hate you leaving to freedom somehow they know anyway from there on see if you’ll get a call back, warning though 2 things one you might get a call back but it could take a month, a few months, or even a couple of years or you might never even get it

Talk to loyalty first tell them your wondering about porting out but wanted to see if you really wanted me to stay I’d like to hear what you have to offer tell them you don’t need that much data and your spending too much, and tell them that freedom offered you 10$ for 1gb and 3gb for 20$ If they ask say you have another line with them and say how you know that virgin also offers the 1gb for 10$, under any circumstances don’t tell them it’s winback offer. Next if they ask how you know virgin offers this tell them your friend told you about it. From there if they say smtg worse then what you have or crappy deals then tell them you’ll like to port/cance your services at the end of the month

Thanks I'll give virgin a try to see if I can get that.
It might take a month as I'm only about 5 months in with them.

Presidents Choice Mobile has a pay-as-you-go plan for $30 that includes unlimited texting, calling and 1GB of data.

thank you, but no not really, I only pay $30 plus gst for virgin for 12gb and 1000 international minutes, so there's no point changing to another $30 plan.

Update.
I heard about Virgin winback deals, and some said simply scheduling a cancellation date was good enough for them to give you a deal.
I did that yesterday. I told them to close my account April 1st.
Today I got a phone call asking why I wanted to leave, I said i wanted a lower bill and less data. He offered me their $10 unlimited calls and text plan, with 1gb of data, and keep my 1000 international minutes.
So that worked out perfectly. He also offered $45 for 25gb, which obviously I didn't want.

Whoa, that’s a good plan!

Is the $10 forever or has credits that expire after a time?

Regardless, still a good dealio!

Nothing at the moment

Forever. Some people have had it for years already so seems a pretty stable plan.

So happy to hear that man, I know you did your research after but Im the one who told you about it and you listened and followed through that’s what makes me happy. helping people is what I love todo and I’m still not done yet, you should still make a complaint with the ccts to get back your money’s worth. Not sure if you can get it as referral credits but virgin is obliged to give you reimbursements for them, there’s 3 steps to the ccts complaints after virgin reviews the complaint they’ll email you or call to offer you smtg small or full reimbursement, don’t accept it say no and say you had to try multiple times and even then you guys kept lying and still didn’t give it then ccts will figure smtg with virgin and call u except it or go even further
