Best "luxury" watch under $100?

Hi all,

Looking for a fancy watch for special occasions. I've seen invicta watches on amazon but want another opinion before I purchase it.

Anyone know any fancy watches for a fancy dinner or something?

Budget: under $100

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the info, I'll stay away from invicta. My new budget is under $200, what do you recommend?

You're not going to find much of quality for under $100. Some of the Invictas look sharp, but the movements are junk.

If you can double up your budget, you could get into a decent Citizen Eco Drive if you look around.

Just my 2 cents.

I'd check out Winners in the Jewelry counter, they usually have some nice brands for cheaper. YMMV though.

Are citizen watches much better than invicta?

Invicta is pure garbage under the current new management since 1991. They're a company based out of Hollywood, Florida. Do yourself a favor and stay the hell away from Invicta. Even a Fossil is better than the current Invicta when it comes to quality and design.

Citizen is Japanese. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen_Holdings) and have a long and prestigious history for almost 100 years now.

Honesty, $100 is not going to get you anything respectable for special occasions. Save up and get yourself something in the range of $300-$600. The most $100 can you is some throwaway children's watch that would make you the laughing stock of your peers if you wear it to a special occasion.

And yes, get a Citizen Eco Drive to start, make sure it has a sapphire crystal face and go from there. Although, for $160 CAD, get something called a Rodina automatic watch from this site: http://good-stuffs.com/Classic-Rodina-a ... p_156.html

It's a homage (re: replica) of a Nomos Tangente (a $2000 and up watch series), built in China but is highly rated amongst collectors and watch enthusiasts alike. The real thing is made in Germany if you ever fancy getting a real one later on in life.

Check out Seiko 5's on amazon.ca. Especially around Christmas, or after Christmas they might be cheap.

The Seiko 5 ticks the box in terms of having an interesting story http://www.seikowatches.com/5sports/sei ... index.html

And there's tons to select from http://www.watchsleuth.com/seiko5finder/. However, amazon.ca might not carry all of them.

I'd also recommend that you look into changing the band from the stainless steel band to a black or brown leather strap so it looks dressier. You can find cheap straps and watch tools (to change the straps) on amazon.ca.

Invicta watches are really expensive. I don't think you can get a bargain for less than $100. You can get quality watches from Seiko though. I bought one before from a year end sale, $79.99. It's a high quality watch that's for sure and is still working until now. I already gave it to my niece though.

What about this? http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B013386 ... ge_o00_s00

There is currently a thread about this. On the thread people are confused about whether it's mineral or sapphire glass.

Post some pics of watch styles you like. It's completely subjective.

It says it's a mineral crystal on the Amazon site, and I can't find much info anywhere else on it. For that price, I'd have to assume its mineral. Also note it's a 45mm case... Might be too large for some.

No such thing as a best watch. Buy whatever you like and fits your own style and needs.

What's your opinion on Bulova? How do they compare to citizen watches?

If you have a Costco membership, go check out their watches. Selection isn't very big but their prices are good for what they do offer.

you can have a very good citizen or seiko or bulova for under $100

but if you try to pass it off as luxury you're gonna come off as a total poser

alternatively you can go the hipster route and get a smartwatch for that price
