The Pi Zero is only $7. Not sure how much of a deal you're going to find on hardware that cheap!

I'd start with the Zero and migrate to a 4B if you're running multiple VPN clients and having performance issues.

On Buyapi it turns out to be almost ~$55 to get everything I need to run a pihole (case-cables-ports-etc)
Would it be better to order something like this?

I have one I can sell you. 50$, includes case, power supply and microSD card. I will even install Pi Hole for you. You just need to plug it into your network and set the DNS in your router.

I suggest you take a look at AdGuard Home instead.

Better yet, consider a NUC and build a home server that will run VPN, AdGuard Home, Pi-Hole and Home Assistant for home automation

This is only for the case itself, no raspberry pi for you.
I was looking for the same thing, either the Pi Zero but you have to buy the adapters or a pi 3 for ~35$. I'm waiting to for a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal

Pi zero should be fine for most users. I am about 60-80k queries a day and it doesnt go past 20% CPU. If you want to also use VPN or something I wouldnt on a zero,
