Best U.S. $ account or GIC for $2500

Just curious what the best product out there is right now for approximately $2500 in U.S. funds. My funds are sitting in a U.S. bank account collecting zero interest right now but the account also charges me zero fees unless I withdraw funds and then it is something like $1 per withdrawal. Is there something better that I can use where I can earn a little bit of interest while not having to pay any fees or very little fees for withdrawals. A US$ GIC would also be good if the rate was attractive.

Tangerine extends their promo interest rates to US$ accounts. If you can manage to hold your nose and score a decent rate with Tangerine's interest-rate-lottery, that can be a temporary option.

Other than that, I found Canadian Western Bank offers the best of a bad lot on US$ GIC rates.

I see that Tangerine is currently offering 2.75% on new savings accounts, including US$, for new clients only. Offer link on their home page.
