So it did exactly what I was designed to do.

Thought about getting this for the built-in speaker but picked up a LG G watch instead for $60 (lots on kijiji under $100). Looking at reviews Zenwatch 2 is bulky with a massive bezel, and CPU / RAM are identical anyway. Next gen Android wear I expect will be much better.

I bought a ps4 but didn't see the need for playing games.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still on the fence about the utility of smart watches vs cool tech to try.

I have a ZenWatch 1, its quite bulky but I do find it useful. Having a watch alert you to texts and emails is more useful than I thought, saves battery life on my phone by no always having to look at it. Also now there's no need to look at phone in car either when you can glance in your wrist and do voice activated replies

Have had this watch for 3 month now and I love it. Ironically it's great for ppl that feel too connected or dependant of phone. With this you can see all notifications without having to wake phone. Means that for a txt I won't feel like I have to reply right away. Often the only one at a table without a phone right infront of e and if I get a txt/email/whatsapp I can check if it needs my immediate attention or if I can reply later. Voice control is great for driving.

Only down side is if in a meeting and you check you will look impatient, or as if you have a hard stop and need to attend another meeting.

Def worth every penny imo

I've had the ZenWatch 2 for about six weeks, and I love it as well. The build quality is very good, stainless steel (plastic back) versus the all-plastic LG G Watch 100 (which I used previously), and the strap is a standard 22 mm watch band which can be easily swapped out. I agree that the Android Wear experience is hit/miss as to whether you find it useful in your day-to-day life.

Unfortunately Best Buy only carries the gunmetal grey / dark blue leather band version. I purchased mine from B&H, preferring the silver case version with brown rubber band (not leather) which has been $USD 129 for quite a while now with free shipping to Canada (plus taxes / duty, paid up-front). With the current exchange rate it comes out cheaper:
