I need to stop buying these things on launch day thinking they wont make anymore/will stop selling them...

I don’t think anyone should buy this. It just encourages Nintendo to not innovate and make objectively worse reiterations of their existing games.

How can they release the exact same thing that came out 40 years ago, except it had 8 months battery life in 1980 and now has 5 hours battery?

To be fair I think the original promotional material said "limited production". Who could've known that wasn't really the case.

It also includes Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, aka Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan Edition).

So it’s really two complete Mario games.

Tempting! Just to recall the old times, playing world 1-1, 1-2, warp to 4-1, 4-2, then warp to the rest of world 8!

Edit: just pulled out my DS, still turns on and runs well! I probably haven't charged it since the early 2010s! Anyone fascinating on the longevity of the DS?

Was thinking the same but it has almost 9 thousand reviews and full 5 stars, hmm.

This has a full colour backlit screen, not a tiny dim LCD display. Indexed to inflation this is far cheaper in 2022 than these sold for in the 80s.

$40 is a great fair price for this and likely as cheap as it's gonna get.

I will pass as I can play all these games on my Switch with a better screen.

LOL, everything on earth is 'limited production.' No product is produced identically for an infinite period of time.

Nintendo having to offer a deep discount (For them) for an item that's not selling really warms my heart.

Thats Nintendo for you. Have it worded where people think only a very. Limited number is name but its widespread available.

After a week once it was released and it was still readily available, you know they made a ton as scalpers picked up alot of units to hopefully resell for extra money.

Yeah, I bought 2 to resell, returned them to store a week after release.

Eventually this may go up in value when they cease production but who knows when that will be.

I have one but honestly didn't played it much. It's more for people that grew up playing the original Mario game and had other old LCD games with this form factor. I really shouldn't have bought at the launch but at this sale price, it's not bad.

wish they connected data lines to the USB-C port. still waiting for a drop-in solution.

It's actually really well built- and feels solid.

1. The game is very basic and for most people, will get old after an hour or two
2. I"m in my 40s now and my eyes don't handle the tiny screens well anymore

So pass for me.

I’ll wait for Zelda to drop in price. There has been too much innovation since original Mario was released for me to enjoy this game much.
