Bestbuy Samsung 4K TVs question

Hey everyone there are two 55" Samsung TVs going on sale for 699.99 (UN55MU6290FXZC) and 749.99 (UN55MU6490FXZC) for curved I'm interested in purchasing. Is one of these models better? I'm trying to buy my parents the best 55" 4K HDR Smart TV I can get for under $1000 as Christmas Gift.

Any info and advice from people who know tech and specs would be appreciated! Thanks

rtings.com is your best bet. Those look like BB specific models so look for the MU6300 and MU6500. They're essentially the same but the BB models probably don't have Bluetooth and voice control on the remote, according to rtings. The only difference between the two models you're looking at is flat vs. curved.

I have the KU6300 from last year (costco model) 55". I think it's a great tv, especially for gaming.

Don't bother with curved, its a gimmick.

I am looking for one of these myself for gaming and maybe hook up a cable line. One issue i see is
The best buy model only has two hdmi inputs? 3 would be nice as i would likely have 2 gaming consoles and maybe cable tv. Reviews look good gaming and good in darker rooms (will be in my basement).

Fyi ive always gone samsung tvs in general and none of them have let me down.

Vizio M is vastly superior just due to the fact it can actually display HDR in wide color gamut with local dimming.

None of the TVs mentioned in this thread are actually HDR. The colour they can display is too limited.

If the Vizio drops to $799 it blows these pieces of crap out of the water.

Does Costco even have BF sale? I'm not seeing any vizio deals from any retailers yet, looking for 50".

yes they do, they will usually have the same prices on tvs as best buy and others but their warranty is cheaper

It doesn't have to be these Samsungs, I didn't know it didn't do true HDR though, so that sucks. It can be any Brand.

Is the Vizio a SmartTV though? It's for a couple of almost senior citizens and the fewer devices they have to deal with, the better.

I believe the difference between the two is just curve.

As far as best 55 inch samsung for under 1k goes, the 7000 for 999.99 so assuming its 1k before tax, that might be the best samsung.

The best 55” for under 1 grand before tax is probably sony x800e for 999.99 at BB. Best 55” deal might actually be Hisense at 499 (costco, leons, brick, im guessing Visions). If you buy it at Costco you can buy 5 yrs warranty for $30. That is a hard deal to beat.

im interested in the same two TV's.... i just found out there is more to it. the flyer is mis-printed. The 55" Curve is actually only a LCD, NOT an LED (huge difference, IMO). I just got off the phone with the guy at Best Buy and he confirmed this.... Ill be going with the 55" 6290 for $699 on Friday...

Hisense bought Sharp rights a while ago so its the same as buying a Sharp now.

As far as reliable... well with costco you get 5 years warranty. And since its Costco, i havent heard of too many people having issue claiming warranty with them. PQ based on RFD thread seems to suggest its pretty good/better than RCA/other china brands.

Edit.its a roku TV. If you want reviews, my guess is its the same as sharps roku tv.

Sony 60x690e will be 799.99 at BB. Basically $100 for 5” @ similar performance. At least i believe x690e/720 is suppose to be similar to mu6300.

I think the MU6300 is slightly better but it's up to what you want to get out of the TV. It has great contrast, black uniformity, decent colour gamut (although it's defined as narrow) and is actually 10 bit, not 8 bit.

But the Sony is bigger, isn't that far behind the MU6300 in picture quality and has great motion ratings.

The big thing really is $100 for 5 inch. When you look at comparisons of TVs going from 55 to 65, price difference is at least 400 (if you distribute the difference evenly, its a $200 difference) but in this case its a $100 difference for a similar TV... which in my opinion makes it a better deal. Of course if things mu6300 does better are important to you, that could shift thing. Im just being general in my recommendation.

Even a lower model hisense tv that i mention, the difference between 55 inch and 65 inch is $350 at Costco (175 comparison).

Quite simply, the Sony 690 is not really an HDR tv, and not comparable to the Vizeo M or Samsung 8000. It gets not a bad rating, but its on the strength of other factors then HDR performance. Its HDR brightness levels are recorded as low as 1/3 of what the Vizeo M and S8000 get. I would buy the Vizeo M at 798 over any sony below the x900 at the 55" level. and a Sony X900E is going to cost twice as much.
