I bought one of these over 4 mths ago, different brand and paid $609 plus tax walking into Memory Express and buying it. I kept it all of a week and sold it and walked back in and bought a 6800XT, is this GPU shortage still actually a thing? Expect BTC to bounce:)

Anyone looking for GPU here in GTA area, please visit local memory express, Canada computer or even BestBuy at some location. The chances of you getting a card walking in and getting one is better then sniping on internet to get the card (Unless you are looking for something specific).

I got 6800 XT from Hamilton Memory Express. Now it is getting a little better then last year.

Edit,
Also, if you plan to build one, tell them that you will be buying a components together, chances of getting GPU is faster when buying a configured build/components.

No one mines BTC on video cards, its ETH that is keeping the prices ridiculous.

So I see online 6700XT available at my local CC. Also I can find it in stock on Amazon, sold by Amazon. But the price for a 6700Xt is like $1400!
Even this 6600XT @ $600 is way overpriced considering that a 6700 XT on AMD site is ~$700, with a reference price of $500 US.
Complete ripoff, if you follow prices one can get a 3070 gaming PC from Dell for sub-$2000.

Canada Computers is trash, don't give them your money. Go to Memory Express, they do random drops every week and you have good odds of getting a card if you're not super picky. They also don't mark up cards.

I picked up an MSI 3060 Gaming last week for $639. Not the cheapest but in this climate, it is pretty damn good. I never used MSI GPUs before but it certainly seems better than the old Gigabyte that I had.

Note: Not a single manufacturer is selling cards anywhere near the reference price. This is basically how it is now. The closest is EVGA but even they do it on their absolute lowest end cards (e.g. base 3060 is $400 USD, $70 over MSRP).

The Dell you are talking about might give you a gaming PC but it is using trash components so it is hard to compare them, FYI. Might be okay if all you do is basic gaming and aren't thinking about overclocking. If you do go for pre-built, please avoid Dell for your own sanity. Lenovo/Legion, Acer, MSI are all better and they do use swappable off the shelf parts, unlike Dell which is all custom made (including things like the PSU).

Keep dreaming, lol. If that comes up I would buy it over my 3060.

And yea, the 6600XT is equivalent more or less to a 3060.

Might as well just buy a tesla instead at this point for its 10 TFLOPs of GPU performance.

I bought an msi 6600xt in the summer from memory express, for $629 I think, walked in and it was on the shelf, along with a few dozen 6700xt’s because they were like $900, way too much. They also had a 3070ti with psu for $1200 and 3080ti for $2200, lol.

Anyways, the 6600xt is a good card, runs everything I’ve thrown at it at 1080p, depending on how high you turn up Ray tracing. Cyberpunk if I put RT on medium with other settings On ultra I only get 20 to 30 fps. Luckily new games now, like resident evil village, are supporting amd’s version of dlss.

Edit: I’m looking at ME stock at the Victoria store where I got mine. The 6600xt is up to $690 now for the Asus. They have a 6600 which is 10 to 15% slower for $569. They have a 3060ti for $990, lol. The prices have gotten worse and not better. 6700xt’s are $1200, wtf!!

And based cards are easy to find at Memex in Calgary. Always on shelf. People are just obsessed with nvidia and that’s the problem. If any of you live in Calgary just walk into Memex and grab a 6800xt or something
