The Pixel 3 was $129 USD for the 64gb just a few weeks ago.

Hard to swallow that as an RFDer.

What's hard to swallow right now is the Canadian Dollar exchange rate.... Just 2 months ago Visa was giving me $1.20 for an American dollar as their charge.. Now they want $1.29. RBC Visa.. Dollar has only gone down $0.02 ... how can they gouge like this?? Seriously thinking of a formal complaint. Was still better than PayPal exchange rate though I think...

Nah, it's not Visa. The CAD has been on a wild ride in the last two months from an early June high of $0.83 USD to a July low of $0.785 USD. That much volatility in such a short time is quite rare.

But it IS Visa, I've graphed the thing myself as well (a quick Google does it), and the price has not fluctuated by 9.5 cents, however my exchange rate HAS. .. Unless I'm missing something.. is it the conversion.. 4.5 cents US is 9.5 cents Canadian? Nope, still think I'm getting ripped off .. Would be nice to have a card with better exchange rate, I know there are a couple out there that used to not charge the 3% markup or whatever Visa typically charges...

I was shopping in late June as well, shouldn't be as dramatic a swing.

You have to do it the other way, 1/1.20 = 0.833, 1/1.29 = 0.775 or if you look up the CAD to buy USD, the range is 1.2008 and 1.2801

No time machine comments just for info comparison sakes ...

In June the Google Pixel 3 XL 128GB Smartphone (Unlocked, Not Pink) was: $199.99 USD
bran new in the box with a 1 yr warranty from Google. ( no Verizon bootloader issues ).
Just saying.

Yeah, this is why I hold a USD VISA.
Always buy USD when it's "cheap" and hold it in a USD account and pay with a USD VISA

Wife bought one. I think there's a trick to do before or at the 1st phone boot up to prevent bloatware and have full unlock functions?

So basically
1 unpack phone
2 remove Verizon sim
3 put in Canadian carrier SIM
4 turn on, connect wifi etc...

Do you have to unlock OEM in developer options before putting in your SIM?

If you read a few expired threads, it has been discussed, you will know. I haven't bought so I didn't pay attention.
