Agreed.

Honestly my parents need a new phone and I probably would have bought one of these for them anyway at $169, but I grabbed the pixel 2 XL at $130 last week and it's too much of a hassle to unwind at this point.

Bought it for $169 last time. Then they dropped it to $129 and I got my $40 refund. Thought they would have cleared all of them at $129.

Using it to test Android 12 beta and once it's officially released for this phone, will pass it on to my mom.

B&H does that . They discontinue them , then they reappear at higher price , then they drop the price .

BTW, if anyone hesitant on the color, not pink is almost like flesh tone (light Asian/tanned Caucasian) if you go naked or go for a clear case. Size is perfect for smaller hands. Performance is still decent. Still prefer this for my old mom than all the other bigger phones with lesser processors.

The Verizon version comes with a permanently locked bootloader, so I would suggest avoiding it if you can get a normal model for a similar price.

Do not be afraid to look at the used stock either. I got one in 9 out of 10 condition, looks brand new, other than packaging. Probably a return. All the accessories, like headphones and adapters came with it untouched.

Not impressed with the color, but a case fixes that easily enough. I like how small it is. I wish modern phones had that form factor. If I wanted a tablet, I would have bought one!

I just did this with my Verizon Pixel 3 just an hour ago. Able to do OEM unlocking. I made sure the Verizon SIM was removed, and did not have the wifi connected.

From an XDA member
I received my unlocked XL yesterday from Google. Upon initial boot, I skipped all setups, went straight to developer options, and OEM unlocking option was grayed out. Then I did a factory reset. This time I setup the Wi-Fi and skipped all other setups. I let the phone automatically do some updates because I was connected to Wi-Fi. After that, OEM unlocking option was available. I am now BL unlocked and rooted. All this was done without SIM.

Others have confirmed that the bootloader is easily unlocked on the Verizon model of this phone, as long as the phone has not been connected to a Verizon network.

Anyone interested can wait a while to see if the price drops.
Each time they restock, seems to be less and less quantity before OOS.
