$279.99 USD, this is a US retailer, but they do ship to Canada.
For example, extra $34.60 in duties and $12.30 shipping to BC.
I have the TS431+ and will probably upgrade to this one.

Think this was released in Q4 2015. How much longer will this be getting new firmware support for?

Seeing that the TS-421 was released in Q2 2013, and is supported till 2020-12 on 2017-12 (QTS 4.3.3)...I guess one can expect about 5 years of firmware updates, and 7 years of tech support?

I purchased a TS451 (non-plus) in Dec 2014, still running great, and its still listed as active on the EOL link shown above, so it pushed past 5 years with no known EOL listed.

Is this suitable for novice NAS users? Technically savvy though

I ordered the synology ds218+ couple days ago but now this is tempting me coz this is 4bay. Not planning to hoard movies so only reason I am considering this qnap is for future proofing

On a related note, for anyone wanting a 2 bay NAS for strictly file storage and basic tasks, the QNAP TS-231P-US is $159.99 CAD on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.ca/TS-231P-US-Person ... B01N78FRVZ

Make sure you click on - New (13) from CDN $159.99

Sold and shipped by Amazon - Usually ships within 1 to 4 weeks

I'm looking for a something to run Plex off of and the CPU is too basic to do any transcoding, so I'm just passing along the deal.
Brown ahead for Bure. Bure going in.. he scores! Pavel Bure has won it for the Vancouver Canucks! It's a triple overtime hat-trick for Vancouver!

I have an older DLINK DNS 323 and looking to upgrade to something that can hold more than 2TB. I need it mainly for back up of files, family videos and pics.

Anyone know what max storage size per disk the 231P is able to hold? CAnnot seem to find on their website.

You can hear the fans if it is running hard, but they are not loud. Depending on the make/model, the drives can make noticeable noise when there is a lot of disk activity.

TS-451+ has a ton of software features.

You can find the hard drive compatibility here :: https://www.qnap.com/en/compatibility/? ... category=1

Looks like it will support up to 16Tb drives :)

I replaced my Dlink 323 about a year ago with this, it's the 4bay version of the 231P

It has the following drives... 6,8 and more recently a 10tb seagate pro from last BD sale. I think I bought at Canada Computers for around $250 last boxing day.

I just bought TS-253be from them for $290US after price matching with adorama. It is anewer model. Anyone can comment which one is better deal?

TS-253be is comparable to synology DS-781+ in hardware for a lot less money.
