Would this work with, say T-Mobile in the US and Fido in Canada? Any experiences with this device?

Pretty good deal IMO. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe is better than the Zenfone 3 that was on Amazon last year for $320, and the specs should hold up more than enough for a $200 phone.

Missing Band 66 for LTE on Freedom, so LTE will be hit and miss. But otherwise it would work on Freedom 3G. About the same cost as some of the "almost new" Sony XA1 Ultra on eBay which do have Band 66.

No Band 66.

So you are fully depends on Band 4 coverage.

Even if the phone has the right bands, it must have the right configs for Freedom. Due to their weird 3G Voice/4G LTE switching.

Yes, but poorly (since no B66 LTE).

About $225 - $250CAD will get you an open box Sony XA1 on eBay. That's the most economical for Freedom LTE I can see without going completely ghetto.

I am tempted to grab the Zenfone, but my big requirement is something that will work with Android Auto in my 2016 Civic. My Huawei GR5 rarely connects over USB, and I think its due to the Android skin they use. The Znefone is heavily skinned as well, so that could be problematic......

I tried Sony in past and wasn't happy with the performance. Did they improve any better recently? Thanks for the info though.

I've been very happy with my Z3 Compact. Going on almost 3 years now. But I'm not a gamer or power-user.

ASUS sure got some weird naming.

This one is
Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.5 ZS550KL - Snapdragon 625 + 16 MP, f/2.0 + IPS LCD
Then there is
Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe ZS570KL - Snapdragon 821 + 23 MP f/2.0 + AMOLED

This "Deluxe" is actually much closer to the original Zenfone 3(ZE552KL) than the other Deluxe.

Also, I am not sure how warranty works for these U.S. bought Asus phones. I would assume that you have to send it back to U.S. and will need U.S. address for them to send you back the item.

EDIT: From their Q&A. "This phone comes with a Limited 1-Year manufacturers North American Warranty."
