It's my understanding the YouTube channel and the magazine are two separate entities from Condé Nast Entertainment.

Great point! I would say this offer mainly caters to people who'd prefer hard copies of the magazine.

There is (or was) a thread on the on-going deals section that talks about how to get magazines for cheap. I prefer a print copy (as long it is cheap enough), so I do it with Bon Appetit. It takes patience, but it is possible to get multiple years for super cheap.
