Rings of Power might as well be LOTR inspired fan fiction lol

Ruined fantasy books for me. After reading this, everything else felt so insipid by comparison. Be warned lol.

The Silmarillion was amazing as well. In fact I might have liked the Silmarilion even more than LOTR (controversial opinion I know). But it's a different style for sure.

I can't imagine actually holding and reading a 1178 page book comfortably. I'd love to see how thick it looks in person.

A friend gifted me this over 20 years ago for my birthday. I'm still surprised i managed to finish it given that I hated reading books. Probably was the last book i owned and read for myself (and not for school)

Not sure how much context this picture provides without other books, but I recently owned this copy of Gone With the Wind that was about the same amount of pages (text size may vary) and while it was a bit awkward to hold it wasn't impossible. It isn't ideal, though, and for this whole series I'd rather just spend more to have all the books separately. The price is great, though.

That's a chunky book! Biggest book on my shelf is like 650 pages and that feels like it's about the limit I want to hold. At this price I would definitely get this if I didn't own the separate copies even if it's just for the shelf, it's amusingly large.

But is it as kick-ass and diverse and empowering as Rings of Power?

I have a lot of Tolkien's works like The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Children of Hurin, The Silmarillion, etc. First picked up and made a big deal by my old HS English teacher in the early 1970s for whom I will be forever grateful. I have way too many books to keep them all anymore, so I will pass them along to younger readers to enjoy hopefully...

Try reading Moorcock's books. You may be surprised. I have a lot of them as well, Elric, Erekose, Corum, Hawkmoon, etc. I remember seeing Chronicle of the Black Sword played live at a convention in 1987 with Hawkwind and Moorcock. Pretty wild!

Oops, this is the three volumes in one. The whole trilogy. No wonder it is thick

Thanks @Gedfrad.

The beginning of this video gives an idea of the book's thickness.
