Brand new treadmill - is it defective?

It makes an odd noise when at higher speeds. Is this normal?
It's an Xterra xt3000.

thanks

I think it is good to google your model number and see if there are any Youtubers with issues that match yours.
They might explain how to fix the problem...maybe.
If nothing is found, check google to see if there are any reviews/write ups encouraging a return to the store you bought it from or if issues can be solved without doing so.
Outside of all that, calling the 800 number in your manual (if there is one) might also be smart. They might know best.

Here's a random Youtube video. Good luck!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

It's loud (whiny) at high speeds and I would hate that. That being said, I rarely hit 15 kph on mine but my NordicTrack is a good decade old and doesn't whine like that at high speeds (which for me are around 14 kph). Have you done a belt lubrication? It sounds like the belt is rubbing on something somewhere. If it's solved by a lubrication, great; otherwise, I would check the belt guides as they may be a tad too tight against the belt.
