Breville BES870XL "Barista" VS. Breville BES840XL "Infuser"

It looks like that time has passed on Boxing week lowest prices for the above two espresso machines (Barista @ $475 and Infuser @ $389 between Amazon and Best Buy) and I will be waiting for the next promo cycle. Good bc I can figure out what machine works well.

The BES870XL has the convenience of a built-in grinder. But have not heard about the quality or durability of the grinder. What happens when it need to go in for service and does this make the service more complicated?

The BES840XL is the same machine without grinder. My inclination would be to pair this with a separate burr grinder, even though the cost might be slightly higher and there would be no dosing with a less expensive grinder I'd likely get.

Can anyone provide experience with these two set ups?

Hi AquamanTO,
