Buying a new (but not "new") iphone

Hi, everyone... I am buying my own phone for the first time in my life! (I've always used company-provided devices til now). What's the best place to get a pre-loved iphone? I am looking for an iphone 11 Pro Max or XS Max (yah I like big phones and I cannot lie). I've found a place called Orchard via Google and Best Buy marketplace but would love other recommendations offering decent prices. Would prefer not to use Kijiji or FB Marketplace.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations you can share.

If you are a Koodo customer - best dealio is Koodo's certified pre-owned.....

You can either buy outright or on a tab (i.e. monthly payment plan).............

https://www.koodomobile.com/phones?INTC ... hop_Phones

For example - XS Max 64Gb in Very Good condition = $600 outright

I find Koodo's Very Good & Great conditions to be like new! and comes with charger & cable but no original box.

Another great option is to buy from fellow RFDers in the BST: Cellphone section...........I find most RFDers take care of their phones & sell at reasonable prices.

Just buy from an established member!

Thanks, ji! Dang re: Koodo. I have heard good things about them. I should have mentioned I got a BYOD deal from Rogers... $55 a month for unlimited data (30GB at top speed, then slower after that) so I'm a bit stuck there. But great call on the BST here. I'd be far more comfortable buying from a fellow RFDer.. I will go check it out now...

Sorry, can you become a Koodo customer without getting a plan?

No. But if you're buying a phone outright from them, you can sign up to any plan (with phone) and then cancel immediately and only pay for a single day's worth of service (if that). It's a pain, and it means a credit hit opening the new line, but that's the only way to do it (if the Koodo CPO price is actually that good)

That is wrong information . If you cancel you’ll be charge the full price of phone . Koodo has closed that loophole a long time ago

Yes, I know. The "outright" purchase price isn't discounted in any way, so you will be paying full price any way.

Does Koodo expect you to use the phone on their network?
Eg can I buy outright and give it as a gift to someone.

It can be used on any network. Phones haven't been sold (to retail customers) as locked for a good few years now.

Thanks. I knew they weren't locked but didn't know if Koodo expected you to sign up with them.
Then it's a good marketplace to get a used phone.
Do they offer guarantee on used phone?

It's only a good marketplace if you're already a Koodo customer. You don't have to use the phone on their network, but you *do* have to be a customer to purchase the phone (or sign up to a plan to purchase the phone, wait for the phone to arrive, then cancel your plan, which is a pain in the ass and still has the negatives I mentioned above like a credit hit plus however many prorated days' worth of service charges, too). They offer a 1 year warranty on certified pre-owned phones, but I'm not sure if you have to remain a customer in order to make any warranty claims.
