Buying Pixel 3a from Google Store US for usage in Canada

With the current promo on the Google Store for the Pixel 3a at 279$US (~400$CAD), I'm strongly considering buying from the US and using a forwarding service to get it here.

Are there any considerations that can make this deal a no-go I might be missing?:
  • Any import duties applicable worsening the deal?
  • I'm assuming warranty claims must be filed in the US?
  • The phone seems usable on the TELUS Network in Canada without issues.
  • Anything else I might be missing?

You'll have to pay GST plus any provincial sales tax. And you'll have to pay secondary shipping to get it across the border plus customs brokerage fees.

You can get it for $460 on amazon.ca right now. I'd go that route for the moment.

When the land border crossings reopen, it's easier to catch bargains by drop-shipping to a receiver near the border and driving there. But until then, I'm going to buy from a Canadian source that deals with surprises and either has it for a known price or not, even if delivery takes the same extra time.
