Are “bed in a box” still the way?

I bought a mattress 3ish years ago and it seemed like everyone and their neighbor was doing bed in a box!

I started off with a Leesa but didn’t love the 100% memory foam style. I ended up with a Sill+Snow Hybrid which has suited me well.

Looking to get a new one (upgrade from Full to Queen) and wondering do I just get another silk+snow? Are there “best” ones these days? I don’t hear or notice as many ads anymore, though I most definitely see Endy all the time

I bought a NovaForm from Costco a few months ago, and I’m in heaven. It took me a few days to get used to it, but now I love it. Much more comfortable than a conventional mattress for me.

I've tried about a dozen or so BiB products and none of them worked for me. Mattresses are all subjective and many people have had success with them. If you have a Costco membership I'd recommend their kirkland mattress. It doesn't come rolled up and I've found it's the only mattress that works for me. It has a med-firm feel (again, subjective and may not be comfortable for everyone) and so far has lasted better than BiB alternatives I've tried. I found after 3 - 4 months BiB mattresses sag/lose support just a little bit enough for it to be uncomfortable.

I have a silk+snow bed in a box. If you didn't like the memory foam style then you won't like this. It's a medium firmness but it feels less firm in the summer when the ambient temperature is higher. The heavier you are, the more you sink into the mattress. It's also warmer overall because the foam insulates so well. My body would get hot even in the winter despite the room being quite cool.

Do these mattresses have a tendency to sink or sag after a few short years due to it being a euro top mattress?

IIRC there is no functional difference between euro and pillow top. The main difference is the aesthetics resulting from how fabric is stitched (which doesn't matter once you put sheets over it).

I’ve spent days researching and trying to decide. I have serious lower back pain when I wake up in the morning with my current bed with is a Saatva memory foam mattress. I find it has sunk a bit too much and it’s not firm enough despite the fact it’s only 3-4 years old.

I need to find a bed that will be firmer and for longer so that it doesn’t suffer from sagging after a few short years.

Go for Kirkland Sealy and you won't regret it. If you don't like they'll pick it up from your house, but out of all the BiB mattresses I've tried this one is the firmest and most comfortable. My guess is materials that are made to be rolled up in a box are either naturally less likely to retain their form or having them compressed softens them up. Think about any metal or foam, if you compress with enough force it'll lose some of its support naturally. Also, a lot of BiB companies use low density foam that loses its support fairly quickly.

I don’t see a “Kirkland” Sealy. This is one of the ones they have on their site:

https://www.costco.ca/sealy-posturepedi ... 65077.html

Is this the one you were referring to? Or are you referring to the Kirkland Stearns & Foster signature with euro top ?

My concern with euro top is that they sink quite a bit after just a few years.

My bad, its the stearns and foster one.

Euro top doesn't sink any more than a flat or pillow top. Like I said, the main difference is how the outside of the mattress is stitched.

Honestly most people probably buy mattresses that are a bit too soft. The most supportive mattress after break-in is usually fairly firm - you need it to push up into the curve of your body to provide enough support. Issue is, those aren't typically the most comfortable when lying down in the store.

Here's a GTA mattress maker that shows this:

https://www.foamite.com/order-mattress/ ... h-natural/

On their customizer, you can choose a number of selections that will calculate your 'score' and less you know which firmness grade to get. I get medium-firm and I'd have gotten a medium if I'd been free to choose on my own.

Also FYI - the one I linked that 2.6lb/cuft high resiliency foam, it'll last 3x the time that a basic bed-in-the-box mattress will. Check out their website, the quality is not comparable to the basic bed-in-a-box companies, it's way higher and they have way more options (including fully custom manufacture if you want).

Sounds like the Kirkland Sterns + Foster isn't designed for side sleepers, as it's definitely on the firmer side... is that accurate?

Looking for a side sleeper mattress as well.

Presently have firm foam and that is resulting in achy shoulders and neck.

Went to visit family and used their soft mattress [think it's a hybrid coils and foam but gonna find out] and when we initially got in we sunk... so great for cuddling but thought it would be awful sleep.

We were wrong as woke up fresh and no aches and pains. This was over 12 days so got to use extensively.
2022: BOC raised 8 times and MCAP raised its prime next day.
2017 to 2018: BOC raised rates 5 times and MCAP raised its prime next day each time.
2020: BOC dropped rates 3 times and MCAP waited to drop its prime to include all 3 drops.

Try sleeping on the floor one night and see if you feel better... just to make sure it's actually the mattress not being firm/flat enough.

Again, it's all subjective and dependent on your body and its needs. I'm a back/side sleeper and my partner is a stomach/side sleeper and this mattress works for us. I read myself stupid into mattress compositions, types, reviews, etc and in the end this one worked for us. You won't know until you try, and I'd only buy from somewhere like Costco where you can return without any hassles.
