CAD to USD conversion

Hi guys, i need your advise here. I am using questrade and have a CAD TFSA account. I funded CAD and bought US shares so they charges conversion fee of 2% plus gave a lower market exchange rate and I am not satisfied with them. someone told me that the best way is to deposit CAD and then buy DLR.TO ETF for free. then they can journal it for me at US side DLR.U.TO. then I can sell them for a commission of 4.95 and i will get cash USD. does this sounds like a good advise?

Is this called norbit gambit?
