[Call it Spring] Call It Spring Shoe Sale

Just stumbled across this gem on my hunt to find decent pair of shoes for my summer wardrobe.

Saw this and was pretty surprised it's not being talked about. I bought 2 pairs of shoes in my size (size 11) that I needed. Blue color and beige. Lots of other sizes remaining for a bunch of other shoes (male and female). Links below to the shoes I picked up that I thought was a nice clean look for summer.

Awesome, unfortunately very small shoe sizes left, not much over size 8.

Just a note to anyone who's not familiar with Call It Spring's shoes: You can get some nice-looking shoes for great prices, but be aware that they tend to be very low quality, especially the synthetic materials. If you stick to real leather you have a better chance of getting something that will last a few years or more, but none of the synthetic shoes I've bought from there have lasted more than one season. I have some real suede desert boots and the soles wore out in two years, and some of the stitching let go, but the tops are still like new so I rebuilt them with some Freesole and they're still going (but the bottoms look a mess and are now slippery on wet ground). But the soles of my synthetic leather running shoes split in under six months of light use, and then the seam around the top edge fell apart a few months later. When new they looked great and were very comfy, but were garbage in less than a year. So for the most part these are disposable shoes, and therefore a waste of money and excessive landfill.

All of this is correct - and to add - Call It Spring is owned the Aldo group, and Call It Spring is their discount/cheap tier when it comes to quality. Very similar to Old Navy/Gap/BR...

Low-end: Call It Spring (Old Navy)
Mid tier: Aldo (The Gap)
High-end: Little Burgundy (Banana Republic)

Not to say that ALL Call it Spring shoes are garbage compared to Aldo, some are pretty close, just like you find with Old Navy/Gap.

How does Call it Spring quality compare to Browns Shoes (their B2 stuff)?

Which mall type shoe store would you recommend for casual shoes (not sneakers) in the $60-100 range? I don't think Aldo are much better either tbh (I've had a couple pairs) and I really don't find Vans or Converse to be comfortable.

For what it's worth, I have worn CIS shoes to work for years (been through at least 10-15 pairs over more than 10 years). I wear them daily, walk 2kms to/from my car each day and have found every single pair to comfortable and durable (they usually last at least 1.5 years when worn 2-3x per week). My only complaint is that they can be a bit uncomfortable when breaking in and like previous posters have said, they are synthetic so not breathable (at all). I always buy them when they're in the clearance/sale section so I've never paid more than $40.

On a related note, I just discovered Ronsons today which has good prices on many mainstream brands of shoes if you're looking for more quality shoes (ie. real leather :)).

For women, naturalizer. For men, roots. Clarks is a great choice for both. All would have to be 'on sale' to get decent prices.

Browns B2 stuff is extremely good quality. The reason there is a distinction between B2 and Browns is because B2 is meant to be for younger clientele and definitely not for lower quality. I worked for browns over 10 years. Best shoe company in Canada.

I'd say the best luck I've had with decent quality shoes for under $100 has been with DC Shoes and Clarks. DC is mostly sneaker/skater/etc. styles but they do have some shoes that work well as casual. I've got a pair of black suede DCs that even work well as semi-casusal. Clarks has some really nice-looking shoes in casual, semi-casual, and dress styles. They're both available on Amazon.ca and elsewhere - Google around and watch for sales.

They're cheap and they look good, but they don't last. Might appeal to the disposable fashion crowd, but I prefer my shoes to last longer.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

Yeah, Aldo is higher up in their brand line. For reg price shoes, I'd go with Aldo but Spring regularly has a good selection of shoes in their clearance and sale sections (if you can deal with pleather).

The best part however, is that these can be dirt cheap ($20-40). If you don't believe some comments, then buy it and try it. It's not like footwear stores pop up all the time, so you can be your own judge. If it works for your feet, then you found yourself a go-to place for cheap shoes. If not, then you can still wear it, albeit not for long (in my opinion). I've had over 10 pairs of them, and the ones that have been comfortable are the winter boots with fur in it, gives it more padding (although the shoe laces end up being the limiting factor).

2nd'd. I peruse the clearance section and have picked up dress, casual, and boots from time to time. I have had zero issues with their products and found that all of them so far have outlasted the last pair I bought from Aldo. For the $30-50/pair I've paid, they've been remarkable buys. Funny enough, I bought the SHYSIE (1st Linked) in beige a while ago, but have yet to wear them. They will be my new summer casual pair!

Sure, but compare buying $30 shoes that last a year to buying $150 shoes that last 5 years. It's the same $30/year expense, but with the second option you get shoes that fit better, feel better, look better, and stay that way for the whole time you have them (and probably longer, therefore actually cheaper in the long run), don't get added to our planet's limited landfill sites every year, and don't require you to spend your time buying new ones every year.
