Calling 2011-2014 Subaru WRX Owners

Both Sedan and Hatchback owners. Tell me everything good and bad you have to say about your car.

I plan to purchase a hatch from this generation (hopefully 2013) in the next 6-8 months.

Great car. Nothing really bad to say. Fuel economy sucks. With only a 5 speed, the car is left wanting. Stiff. Fun.

Since you are buying used, get a leak down test and if you are buying CPO, make sure that you state in your purchase agreement that extended warranty will cover any power train failure, have the dealer note on the original document if the car was tuned/modded. Some dealers will sell a modded car with extended power train only to reject any service because the car was modded and say they didn't know. This being sales vs service argument. Also, have it looked at my a subie independent shop before buying if private. Pay the $250 or so bucks to get everything in under the sun tested.

Thanks for your reply. Will keep it all in mind.

Fuel economy sucks but you don't buy it for the fuel economy Winking Face. A 6th gear would be nice like they introduced in 2015, but from what I hear the fuel economy on the 2.5L engine is more or less the same, the 2.0L engine obviously gets better gas.

Indeed you buy the car for fun and forget about the rest, but the GDs with the EJ255 get about 9-11/100. Both the EJ255 and the FA20 in the require premium, so not only is your smile per gallon terrible, also expensive. I have no idea what the FA20 is for km/l but assume it's still around 9 or 10. I know that the EJ257 is 12-13/L.

EDIT: just checked someones getting 10.2L out of a 2016 wrx. I don't know if this is manaul or DCT but I don't think there is much difference.

10.2L is pretty good. I average from 11-13L/100km on my old Mazdaspeed3 with some mods. I have a heavy foot and I admit it, but you don't drive these cars like you driving a Corolla.
Anything under 14L is reasonable for this type of cars IMO
