Can DHL do this?! (Charge customs/brokerage after-the-fact)
So I had something shipped to me. DHL initially rated it for a brokerage price of $12.71. The shipment has been paid and delivered.
I then receive an email stating the following:
Your shipment was initially rated with wrong HS/customs classification which has now resulted in higher amount payable. Since then, we have made the necessary correction with Canada Customs for compliance purpose. Please find attached full set supporting documents your retention record.
At this time we would like to request remittance for the outstanding balance of $295.81 to avoid any third party collection attempts
