Can funeral expenses be claimed in income tax return?

My grandfather died last year and I am wondering if any of his funeral expenses or anything that my grandmother can claim when she files her and his taxes? anything else to look out for in this case (someone who passed away)

Yes, definitely medical expenses which meet the thrash hold (3% of net income etc...)

Woodbridge905, is there any chance your grandfather was disabled in his last year or two? I applied for, and got, eligibility for the disability amount for my elder mother, aunt, and uncle, and that has made a huge difference in their taxes payable. A doctor can complete this form (T2201) retroactively.

Yes, he was elgible for that for the last 4 years or so, 2014 being the last one, so I will make sure I include that one too. Thanks for the reminder.
