Can I re-use or personalize my old license plate from 3 years ago.

I have an old plate from 3 years ago when I purchased my current car.

Yes as long as you have the plate portion of the permit then you're good. Just have to pay for stickers

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do I need to return the current plate?

Why you're just re-using the plate... If you're trying to get new personalized plates with the same numbers you'll have to pay for personalized plates.

You'll have to bring the plate back in to the MTO to get new stickers for it yes. You may be able to do it without bringing in the physical plate but you definitely need the paperwork for it. Depends on the agent, some will allow it and some won't.

I will back the old plate to get the sticker on it, so I can re-use it and mount on my car. I may or may not need to bring back the current plate depends on the agent. To be safe, bring back both plates. Correct?

Really you only need the back one with the sticker but wouldn't hurt to bring both.

My plan is to re-use the old plate. I may personalize the re-used plate in the future. I like Doug Ford's new design plate ;) My old plate is a kind of funky, "118 CBC".

When I purchased my car 3 years ago, the dealership couldn't garantee they can dismount the plates from the rusty frame. They were able to and mailed back the plates after a few weeks.

Tf does personalize the old plates mean? Are you going to colour it with magic markers and put it on your car?
