Can someone else sell my car on my behalf?

Hi everyone, I couldn’t find this answer anywhere.

I’d like to sell my used vehicle but I’m traveling for the next 3 months. Could my brother sell my car on my behalf? Ownership is in my name. How would I transfer this to the new owner if I’m not present.

Can I give him power of attorney or something of the like?

Thanks!

Yes. Just have the ownership signed. Your 'agent' can sign the bill of sale too.

You just need to pre-sign your ownership/registration (that you keep in the glovebox) which you would do under normal circumstances when selling.

All your brother has to do write a good ad. with good pictures, deal with time-wasters, and vet the real prospects.

Then at the appropriate time (verified bank transfer) hand over the registration, both keys, and make sure all your personal possessions are removed (delete phone contacts, nav history, etc.).

Yes they can sell it. Scumbag curbers do it all the time. Just need a signed bill of sale and keep the buyers info blank.
