Can Students Qualify for an MSP Subsidy?

Years ago, I recall my elder sibling mentioning that she had qualified for MSP premium assistance--which dropped her rate to around $10/month--because she was a full-time student at the time. However, I was under the impression that MSP calculated your monthly rate based solely on your adjusted net income from the previous year.

The only supporting evidence I could find of this was on Emily Carr Student's Union website, stating:
However, as a student, you may qualify for a subsidy of your provincial health care costs (Premium Assistance). More information is available at www.healthservices.gov.bc.ca or by calling BC Medical Services Plan at 604.775.0303

Yes, but not because you are a student, but because your net income is below $30,000. You need to file a tax return to qualify.
