Can tenants from the previous owner put a lien on my place?

I purchased property in Nova Scotia last year.

A document was dropped off at my unit yesterday stating that the person I bought my home from is being sued by their old tenants in Nova Scotia Small Claims Court. This document obviously wasn't for me and I let the building management know, but it was regarding my unit so I'm a bit worried that they could put a lien on my place.

I know my friend had a lien put on his home in Florida because the last owners never paid some contractor, and he was responsible for paying it. But also, that's Florida...

Do I have anything to be worried about?

No, they just placed the stapled document at my door.

They cannot put a lien on the place because it doesn't belong to the person being sued.

Construction liens are different because the logic is that unpaid materials are now part of the home.
If for example a contractor who is building you a home does not pay a supplier for materials, the supplier can put a lien on your home. It will not matter that you have paid your contractor for everything.

Awesome, this makes complete sense. Thank you for your help!

You are not in Florida or Ontario, you are in Nova Scotia so I would not take advice from those in Ontario even if it sounds right unless they are posting the law.
Ignore it until someone sends you something unless you want to stick your neck out and tell them they didn't serve the right person.
