Can we use Canola oil for cars

Canola oil price is around 1$/L in costco, some videos mentioned that diesel engine can be modified to use mixed canola and diesel. So we could consume all our canola oil on the wheels in the future?

Yup, for sure you can....but if you really care for your care you will give it Olive Oil instead of Canola.

as dumb as it sounds, https://www.canolacouncil.org/canola-bi ... -biofuels/

nothing as of yet, but it's the matter of time I guess, ESPECIALLY when you mention canola oils, it's automatically referred to cooking oil. And everyone would be assuming you are dumbing chugs of cooking canola oils into your fuel tank

I heard part of the country is drowning in oil.
NG also dipped into negative territory from wire news. Not a Canadian only problem.

So sad to see replies like these here, major Canadian forum.

From wiki

Name Canola was a condensation of "Can" from Canada and "ola" from other vegetable oils.

"World War II caused high demand for the oil as a lubricant for the rapidly increasing number of steam engines in naval and merchant ships.
When the war blocked European and Asian sources of rapeseed oil, a critical shortage developed, and Canada began to expand its limited rapeseed production."

What's far worse is use of this oil for human consumption - There are more and more research showing how damaging "vegetable oils" such as "Canola" are to our health. We should be using wholesome real fats not this crap.

With modifications to diesel engine, yes you can. But the idea is to get used oil from restaurants free or dirt cheap, not paying near diesel price for it.

Sunflower oil provides a higher smoking temperature and would be better suited. Those that say to use olive oil really have no idea what they’re talking about - it won’t be able to withstand the high heat.

Peanut Oil would be preferred.
