Can you have 2 Aeroplan different tier credit cards?

Hi,

AP does want you to hold two CCs of same type even from different issuers.

How about if you hold two cards from same issues but one is Visa Infinite (139 YF) and the other one Visa Infinite Privilege (599 YF) from the same bank?

Thanks

I suppose you mean Visa Infinite and Visa Infinite Privilege.
To be straight I doubt they care, as long as you don't abuse their welcome bonus programs.

Yes you are right. I have edited my above post.

Since December 2022 it seems that AP is restricting people from having two cards of the same type(they amended their TC).

I am not planning on abusing the welcome bonuses but I did not want to get the second card and then have my account locked and points forfeited.

I was curious if anyone has extra info or first hand experience with this situation.

Thanks again

I can't speak from the same bank, but I have the CIBC Aeroplan Visa Platinum and the Amex Aeroplan Reserve and all is well.
Banking: Alterna Bank (2.5%)
Investing: Qtrade Direct Investing
Spending: Scotia Amex Gold (6 pts/Sobeys, 5 pts/dining, 1 pts/rest), Scene Visa (1 pts)
Mobile: Eastlink 10GB Rollover ($45/mth)

Until a couple of months ago, it was no problem. Now, it's unclear how strictly they will enforce the new rules. There is a discussion thread on here somewhere about this, but I couldn't find it right away. It suggests that the new rules are probably being spearheaded by TD. Anyone who reported welcome bonuses being clawed back said it was on TD cards. AFAIK, no one had accounts closed or other aeroplan points (other than from the welcome bonus) confiscated.

DP FWIW:

Have TD VIP (June 2022) and VI (Oct 2022). Got bonuses on both, no clawbacks or locking of AP account.

Got CIBC VI, met MSR in December and welcome bonus posted in January.

Make of it what you will but it looks like CIBC isn't withholding bonuses, but I'd tread very carefully with TD given all the clawbacks reported involving their cards. Not surprising though given how much easier it is to take advantage of TD's offers with PS.

If I have the CIBC card and I try getting the TD one.. would TD figure out that I have the CIBC one or I will be safe as long as I have the cards with different institutions?
