Where is a good place to buy filter bags for a cana-vac central vacuum?

are they all compatible with a central cana-vac vacuum, or one needs specific size/type?

Go into a store. Look at the bags and see if they are compatible. If you cannot get OEM, then go aftermarket.

If you are afraid of that ... then try searching on eBay or Amazon.

Last resort ... the manufacturer.

Is there any harm in operating the vacuum without a filter bag, and just emptying the canister when full?
