When I went to checkout I got this message:

"Canada Computers has adopted a new pricing policy for [CPAMD00085] AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 4-Core/8-Thread 7nm Processor. When your order is ready for pickup, the price may be higher or lower than when you first placed your order. The final price will be dictated by the price charged by manufacturers."

So I could get charged higher than this price when I get there?

They adopted that messaging with GPUs too. If the store is close and you are interested id just do it and refuse to buy if the price is increased. Or you could call the store to make sure (and to see if you need to reserve online or if they sell to walk ins )

Basically their rationale is while there are shortages their suppliers keep changing the price on them so they need to be flexible. But I am surprised that would extent to a prior generation CPU, even a constantly sold out one due to low supply.

Still, my one experience with this message is the price didnt change.

It has been on the policy for a while, but they always charged me the quoted price.

Shoot, I've been waiting soooo long for the 3300x to be available and finally fed up with the waiting game and bought 11400 instead.

Does this mean it's the manufacturers who have increased their own MSRP and not Canada Computers (who everyone thinks is the scalper by bundling?)

I can imagine the customers who think CC paid less than MSRP and are pricing based on scalping prices and take their frustrations on the employees.

Then they are doing it wrong. I can't believe they'd actually think this was ok.

@canada computers, Only sell what you have stock for and know what you paid. Otherwise, don't treat preorders as orders, that's **** stupid and makes you look like scummy Mickey mouse outfit.

Generic text that they’ve added to GPUs and bundles a few months back. Fwiw I’ve never been charged at a higher price than what’s quoted.

If you’re worried, you can call the store to double check the price once you receive your pickup notification, before heading over. If the price increased, just ask them to cancel the order.

The 11400 is theoretically a faster processor than the 3300X, so you’re not really missing out.

The 3300X does have better thermals and would give you a better upgrade path - but for most average users these considerations aren’t that important.
