[Canada Computers] Acer 29" 21:9 Curved Ultrawide 100hz VA Monitor with VESA - $300-$30=$269.99

EI292CUR Pbmiipx is the model number. Virtually no information or reviews available online for some reason. It's a 2021 model though.

I was looking for the best entry-level monitor and stumbled upon this one. I rolled the dice and am posting on it right now.

Because there are no reviews, feel free to ask me anything about this monitor and I'll see what I can do.
I'm glad I made the change to ultrawide, and so maybe this will be helpful for someone else too.

Edit: As superfigz pointed out, the resolution is 2560*1080. This gives you a PPI of ~96, so slightly better PPI than a 24" 1080p with 16:9 ratio (`92 ppi).

OP what's your usage?

Planning on picking up two monitors to go along with my 32" main to have a three monitor setup. Main usage is for work productivity.

Seems like a new panel, can't find anything tho.
whoever grabbed it please post ghosting test result https://www.testufo.com/ghosting with different background colours, see how bad it is in dark scenes (Red/Black motion).

Newer Samsung VA panels don't have severe bad ghosting now.

To be honest, I bought a LG 29 inch few weeks ago and end up returning it for the Costco one (32 inch) because of the size and price, it was only 30$ difference give or take.
Basically you can fit the 29inch into the 32inch monitor and gain a fair amount of height real estate + crispiness from the 2k resolution (vs 1080p for the 29inch).

I work from home and do casual gaming and I didn't notice any difference between the 2 in term of lag.

Just my 2 cents.

Primarily productivity/WFH stuff. Some gaming but this was a work-focused purchase. It fits two pdf/writing/webpages side by side so much better than 16:9!

You're right about the increased real estate, but you actually reduce your pixels per inch on a 32" panel with 1440p. It's ~92PPI for the Costco LG 32", and ~96PPi for this Acer 29" UW.

Is ultrawide good for multitasking only or does it make movie watching and gaming better as well?

Would this be good for racing (iRacing)? Would be nice to see left and right without needing to press a button or go VR.

VA vs IPS

Seriously, these aren't even remotely similar.
It's a similar monitor, just with 4 extra inches of vertical real estate. Overall width, pixel density, and brightness are basically the same. With the Ultrawide, you're paying the same money for the privilege of losing the top 30% of the display.

I am not tech savvy ...

Which one is better? The 29"?

What is the difference between a VA and IPS panel?

Largely depends what you want.
As others have said, there is a sacrifice of vertical space to get that ultrawide format (which I am currently loving).

VA has much better color contrast, deeper blacks and such however the viewing angles are not as good. Not an issue if you are sitting right in front of it, but possibly a concern if you plan on using the screen to watch content with others frequently. IPS has that wonderful almost any angle of viewing.

The 29" has a higher pixel density, better contrast, faster refresh rate, and is curved.

The 32" is physically larger with better viewing angles.

I wanted the form factor of ultrawide, so I went with the 29"
