ATL on the CPU is what... $430? So $30 more for 64GB of 3200mhz CL16 DDR4. Seems solid to me.

How reliable is TeamGroup RAM compared to Kingston, GSkill, Corsair and other mainstream brands? Not to be bias but I trust those brands compared to TeamGroup, Sabrent and other tier brands that are not mainstream. Just due to customer service/warranty support.

I guess I could pick this up and sell the RAM or something.

Debating on picking it up, but I already have two systems - 5600X and 5800x3d.

Good price for a new build, not sure if it's worthwhile to upgrade a 5600x. The 5600x was pretty good value and I think for only specific use cases that utilize multi-threading would the 5900x be advantageous. For day to day I don't think there would be too much diff between 5600x and 5900x. SIngle threaded operations are pretty comparable between the two.

Reminder there is the 5600x+16GB RAM bundle for $214 using the $10 coupon.

Anyone experienced issues mixing 2x32GB with 2x16GB ram? I'm out of ram slots (4x16gb). The 5900x would be great for running lots of VM's.

its fine. the actual ram is made by samsung hynix or micron. teamgroup just slaps their heatspreader on it and offers warranty support. also never had any issues with teamgroup.

Thanks. This helps a lot - knowing there is confidence in the product.

In for one! The 4790k is -finally- retiring after almost 9 years of service
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

You'll see a decent bump. I went from a 3570K to a 5600x and that was quite startling how much faster handbrake ran when transcoding!

Is there any real difference between the desktop and laptop 5900x?

I'm currently using a 5900x based laptop but I'm looking at building a new gaming desktop

Ran my phenom quad core for way too long. Finally flamed out. Literally.
Good to see prices are dropping. Time for a new build.

Was waiting for the 5800x3D (from a gaming perspective), but really tempted by the offering with ram at a very similar price point. What to do?

5900x will be great for productivity tasks and multithreading, but the 5800X3D is better for gaming. Unless you really need it for heavily threaded tasks, it's not really an upgrade.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. Wondering if I can have a dedicated Esxi computer with the 5900x and 64GB RAM.
