Fair, but it would only be just a drop-in upgrade for those already on AM4. Those on Zen 1 or Zen 2 would see quite a substantial upgrade.

I play odd games from paradox, so those numbers may not be so fit to my situation...

Tempting but I have GPU bottleneck right now, not CPU (5700XT).

Should I upgrade from a 5950X to 5800X 3D mainly for 165Hz 1440p but eventually 240Hz 1440p gaming ?

No you shouldn't. I have a 5900x and I wouldn't do it. Your better off selling your GPU plus take the money you'd spend on this CPU and buy a better GPU. AM4 platform is dead and you already have the arguably the best AM4 cpu.

To play/do what? The 5950x is better for non gaming, and the 5800x3d doesn’t have the same performance advantage in all games. I probably wouldn’t bother unless you can get a good price for the 5950x.

If you just use the PC for gaming I would upgrade to the 5800x3d. Sell your 5950x to cover the cost and perhaps throw a few bucks back in your pocket. $350 for 10% gains @ 1440p is reasonable
