Good cards, but even as an AMD fan, I wouldn't buy them vs equivalent NVIDIA cards, at least for gaming.

Rasterization is a bit higher on the AMD cards, but once you factor in DLSS, they can't compete.

I got a 3060Ti recently and with RTX fully maxed out I can play in 4K DLSS balanced mode around 55fps, which looks awesome with VRR.

Forncomparison, that's almost double what a Series X outputs with less ray tracing, and that GPU is similar to a 6700XT.

Problem is NVIDIA cards can't be found... and they can't be found at competing prices. A 3060Ti is sold @ 900$ + right now. FSR might get more tractions in future games too.

If you want RT, then in any case wait for nex gen (lovelace, rdna3), which is going to trounce anything they have right now.

Got mine two weeks ago for 739... And they were in stock at best buy for a while just yesterday.

I actually see more Nvidia than AMD in stock, but most of them are 3060s.

Better in classic rasterization, much worse with DLSS on. And much worse for Raytracing.

ish....the 6700xt is closer to 3070 really. i would take a 3070 anyday over the 6700xt tho.

6700xt sits between 3060 ti and 3070. Closer to 3060 ti as resolution increase.
On the other hand, the 8GB vram on the 3060 ti and 3070 could be a problem in the near future.
I feel $800ish is a more fair price for the 6700xt instead of the normal $1000+.

You may want to skip this generation as stock recovers. Take another look at the card once 7xxx series releases. The deals is as cold as the snow storm we got today.

That's all exactly right.

But I personally wouldn't buy a card without DLSS or some other form of similar reconstruction, it's THAT good.

Strangely enough, there's hope for AMD coming from Intel with their "XESS" tech that will release soon and is supposed to be platform agnostic, but we don't know much about the image quality of it's output, and without Nvidia's tensor cores, it might be expensive to run for the GPU.

As for the VRAM causing problem, Nvidia uses better/different memory compression so needs less, and... Ultimately I don't mind turning down textures quality a notch in a few years. This is a midrange card, not top of the line. It will still look better than consoles.

I would buy a 3060ti before a 6700XT for sure. In fact, that's what I did. There are tons of other stuff too like the nvenc encoder quality, etc...

If you can both find and afford a 3070, sure, go for it

Thanks for sharing OP, I also do not think things are going to get better for pricing on these graphic cards just because of the demand from multiple different industries. Bought my Nvidia 3070 for $799 which was more than MSRP but I found it reasonable based on the demands for graphic cards these days. I bought it a year ago when everyone was complaining about the mark up.

Not really.

6800XT = 3080 in classic rasterization, slightly better at 1440p, slightly worse at 4k.
6800XT = 3070 in RT, still better than a 3060ti
And DLSS doesn't work at all, that's NVIDIA exclusive, FSR is somewhat comparable, but generally worse.

You might not have a few years. Also, it is unacceptable to need to turn down textures on a $1,000+ video card.

You could. I got one last Thursday AMD Direct buy, $832 plus tax. After doing a lot of reading it is a much superior card than 3060TI in any way, for $839 anyway lol. Nothing on Nvidia come close to this unless you can get a 3070TI FE or 3080 FE
