[Canada Computers] [Canada Computers]/$200/13.3 FHD(1920x1080)/N3450/4GB RAM/32GB SSD/the Poor-man's XPS 13

Unknown Chinese brand (iSmart), but the hardwares (CPU+FHD screen, RAM, SSD) and the portability together is worth more than $199.

The dimension (especially the height) is amazing: 318*211*12.9 mm

(Compare that to the 13 inch macbook air: 325*227*17 mm)

And it only weighs 1.25kg (2.75 lb)

I know the brand is cringe worthy and people are tempted to say "if you buy this, you are the opposite of iSmart" or "if you buy this, you are an iDiot", but again, I don't care who assembled this unit, the quality of work was good enough for Canada Computers (a pretty reputable and long standing vendor), therefore, don't worry about those things and buy it for the hardware and the portability.

It has a Mini HDMI output so you can use this for light gaming and streaming, it is cheaper than apple TV for Christ's sake.

Enjoy.

I dub this machine "the poorman's XPS 13".

BTW if you are from one of the provinces where CC isn't registered in (Manitoba, for example), you only pay 5% tax. So it is cheaper to have it shipped to you than picking it up in store, because you actually have to pay full 13% tax if you do that (as they are obviously registered in Ontario).

I find that quite interesting.

I pulled the trigger because it is basically $190 before tax (190*1.13=$215), which I consider a reasonable amount to pay to experience new things.

Will report back with a detailed review once I receive it!
Subtotal: $199.00

Buy it

If youre an iDiot

Jk, agreeably good if you plan to take it apart. Just make sure it actually has that hardware inside if you plan to use it as is.

Issue is, even though its cost efficient the parts still suck

I doubt it, given the height of only 12.9mm. but windows 7 should be fine.

Given the number of OpenBox stock they have...I'd say avoid it if possible.

Any thoughts as using this as a Chromebook?

Specs are better than any Chromebook in the $200 price range (mainly the 1080p, and quad core Celeron)

Opinions?

Personally, I would put windows 7 pro on it.

because my personal experiences tell me that win10 slows down my computer.

with windows 7, i know exactly what to do to make my computer run under "bare bone" settings (disabling services, uninstalling everything not necessary, for example)

win7 also takes up less space, 32GB is enough for win7+hearthstone+light streaming+MS office suite+adobe acrobat professional.
