Not only did we embarrass Marky Mark, we let down the Funky Bunch.

Too bad stock is going to be a problem. I'd buy this for $600.

Pretty sure you can get a used Note 8 on Kijiji for $500-$600. No difference from these "open box". No tax on kijiji

This is a great price for a flagship phone, albeit from 2017. I'd be concerned with the fact that usually most Android manufacturers only support updates to their devices for 2 years. And considering that Samsung is always late with updates (by months in many cases), if that is a concern for you, it is something to take into account.

Or, if you're adventurous, you could go with one of the few ROMs that have regular releases such as LineageOS. Maybe that will extend the life of the phone further but you'd lose out on all the "Samsung" specific features and customization these phones usually come with.

Not with warranty you cannot. Open box normally still comes with the full manufacture warranty. Kijiji will get you no warranty, risking your money on a faulty device, perhaps a clone so a loss of $500-$600 in the near future. To me, that's a big difference than open box.

+1, that it's risky to buy a $600 phone that can be EOL any time.

It's funny how close this is to the effective price of an S10+ through BestBuy recently.

Or a stolen phone.
My brother got a Pixel 3 on kijiji and after a week the EMEI has been blacklisted.
Never on kijiji again.

$600 for a SD835 phone is ludicrous

I bought a brand new S9+ for just $60 more at Koodo. Warm deal at best.

Odd. Can you explain more in detail. I've been hunting for a S9+ and can't seem to find any thing close to this price you say. Tell me more Hikaru.

OP is likely speaking of the Koodo process where you sign up for a new contract and then pay off the tab immediately. There are often incentives for this that are not (yet) clawed back by Koodo. Do a search for Koodo and you'll come up with a ton of threads, it has been going on for a long time. Kind of shady IMO, but Koodo doesn't seem to care.

I haven't seen any S9+ deals tho, even in the last two months or so. The last deal that I know of was for the S10 from Best Buy. The S9 on the other hand you can get from koodoo on the cheaper $200gc but on extra large plan, but no + from any retailers. That is the reason for my asking @MSZsama, cause I actually almost, don't believe it.

Unless, it's from age olds purchase like boxing day/black Friday for the S9+ and everyone needs to use time machine and if that is the case, fail post.
