This router has powerfull 1 watts emitter for 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands.
But, 2900 mbits bandwith is very high for most people with internet connection of 100 mbs or less.

So a good buy if you have a lot of roomates...

It's also AiMesh compatible. So you can eventually add more devices to create a mesh network (like Google WiFi).

That's inconvenient. I picked one of these up from Best Buy and it's fantastic. I posted about it here. It's worth the wait and you won't find a better price to date, believe me, I've been looking.

Speaking of Best Buy, they just had this on sale recently. You can certainly try to get them to price match even though it's out of stock at CC.

How does this compare to the AC-3100?

The AC-86U have a faster CPU, 1.8GHz vs 1.4 GHz of AC-3100.

256mb flash ram on 86u vs 128mb on 3100.

VPN supports on 86U but not on 3100?
