Darn. I missed that cheap USB key. Does anyone know of other deals on USB keys during BF?

Hi All,

I know AMD CPUs are all the rage these days, but for those interested in INTEL:

Did anyone mention the $30 instant rebate that CC is offering when you buy either the i7-9700K or i5-9600K WITH the purchase of a 'compatible motherboard' ?

Went in store today on BF and they were able to activate this $30 savings in-store at the cash.

I picked up the i7-9700K for $459 and paired it with a z390 motherboard (chose the Gigabyte z390 Aorus Elite, but seriously considered the Asus Prime Z390-A).

Hope this helps - good hunting all !

If you're in Vancouver, go to the one on Grandview. Seems not very busy. It's in the middle of nowhere, so not surprising. There was a sign outside that said, "Line up here," but I don't think it was necessary.

It was not busy at all for sure. Definitely not in the middle of nowhere, it's literally on the border of Burnaby and Vancouver, right next to highway 1 lol. All the way in Kits would be considered in the middle of nowhere compared to this location.

Well I got my 3600x from Amazon the other day for $229 and when I opened the packaging the box with the processor and fan in it was ruined. The plastic surrounding the fan was in a shambles and was embedded into the heat sink and fins. Now I have to wait to return it. Wonder if I should just forget dealing with Amazon again and just pay the extra money for the one at CC.

Probably just bad luck. Happens with shipping/any online shopping unfortunately. Like it just got tossed around in transit. If you are in a hurry, then buy at a physical store but otherwise I would give amazon a chance to reship.

The 3800X I ordered arrived today (assuming same deal) and looks perfectly fine but the rest of the parts (including motherboard) haven’t arrived yet for me to build the system. Guess I got to wait till Monday...

What's the best GPU deal for a 1080/144hz PC build?

Depends on game you are playing but 5700XT is probably the best to go with right now. 2070 super is a good pick too but I didn’t see many deals on it. Depending on game you plan on playing, you could be fine with a 2060 super too. One disadvantage of 5700xt is power usage tho so keep that in mind if it matters to you.

Thanks. Any 5700 XT that are good deals at the moment? The Gigabyte one @ $519 looks pretty good.

It depends if you plan on using custom cooling but if you aren’t using custom cooling in the card, I recommend ROG

Price match with amazon or buy from amazon and the price difference is pretty close to the gigabytes card. It’s the card I went with $530 after price match (rep must rounded it).

So just curious this is what I got will this all work together ok or should I get different Mobo, RAM, CASE, SSD, and PSU? Thanks in advance for any input been a while since I built a computer. I'm just going to use my 1070 video card for now.

I should add the part i know the least about is the mobo so perhaps there is much better option that isnt a lot more money.

I should also add that if I do need to get something else I could potentially go to Canada Computers today in person as its only about 1 hour away.

I managed to grab a 2060 from the BF sale. Replaced my 2x 970's and so far I'm really happy. No fan rattling, temps are good.

Just wish we could somehow get a free game too LOL.

I didn't have any fan rattling my first couple days with the card, but now it makes a small rattle from time to time and is difficult to reproduce. Temperature never reached over 80C for me under load which I'm happy about. Performance is excellent. I can live with the minor fan rattling since it's in my living room pc and I sit 6 feet away, so I don't hear it and the fans are off when idle.
