That being said, the last thing I bought ($200) - I returned unopened due to the said crappy return policy. They even tried to sell me a clearly open box one as “new”. How would I know that the item doesn’t work if I haven’t used it yet?

Anyway, the guy in Ajax took it back with no hassle.

In a lot of cases, returns tend to be YMMV; however, the last time I came in the Ajax location, they made sure to tell customers it was final sale. I wanted a video card and it was such a good price but with that sort of policy, I'd rather just wait it out and pay a bit extra for amazon or some other place that values their customers. I think CC might be the next to go under.
