[Canada Computers] CMI 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive $7.99

Saw this at Canada Computers for $7.99 and bought a couple since I needed some pocket storage. On Boxing Day there were cheap USB 2.0 flash drives for around the same price but not USB 3.0. Never heard of this brand but later noticed at Bestbuy it's $48.99 while Amazon has it for $34.99. Couldn't find any reviews on them and they look the same to me. In any case, it's a 64GB Flash Drive USB 3.0 for $7.99. Thought I'd post in case anyone needs some flash drives and it might be a really good deal if the quality is good.

64GB at Bestbuy.ca
64GB at Amazon.ca
32 GB (3 pack) at Walmart

Who would buy this brand? Seriously...like who would (1) Look at this brand, (2) See the more expensive prices on Amazon and BB, then consider this item is a deal worth taking?

Trying to understand...what am I missing here?

drives of this style are flimsy and the connection parts just retreats into the shell like a turtle when I want to connect it and mine is a sandisk. you have to pinch it hard when inserting.

USB 3 isn't worth much on the cheap sticks: the slower speed of USB 2 isn't where the bottleneck is.

At this price, they should be microSSDs. Instead of eMMC equivalent garbage.

Anything less than a portable SSD isn't worth my time.

Respect to those who use standard USB keys, they're decent in a pinch.

They're just failure prone garbage generally.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

Thanks OP, I bought a couple of these as well as I do a quick price compare on a few sites and if it's "much cheaper" than "regular price", I would snag a couple for quick storage solutions for non-critical data transfer. "Buy now, think later mentality" peeps..., I'm not like some people who "Think too much, vote on post, and then buy...but then get the OOS".

For example, I used these two I just purchased for "downloading" data onto my Lenovo 14w, I mapped them as C:\Downloads and in the browsers, changed the paths to store these. It's perfect as the two Lenovo 14w laptops only have a non-upgrade-able 4gb ram and 64 gig emmc, this 64 makes the jump to 128gb storage. <yay!>

Essentially, I see this SD Card in Windows File Explorer and also when I view the C drive, it shows as my C:\Downloads folder. This is how I did it: https://www.radishlogic.com/tools/makin ... indows-10/

Always have at least 1 sitting around cuz you never know when you need to install Windows or run a Linux live ISO off them. I like Easy2Boot to be able boot different ISOs without having to actually write the images to the USB. Doesn't work for all cases, but something you can look into.

I'd sooner go to factory direct. Canada computers has fallen so far from its days at pacific mall in scarborough. I bought a new hd online and when i went to pick up it was an open box. Calling their customer support was a joke. Not even a mailbox. A month later I finally got my money back. Amazon or bust.

LOL, I just farted when I read that last post... depending on the store you selected to purchase from, they don't have stock... you'll have to choose the online order option as they still have 3 in stock, or select another location that has stock...
