[Canada Computers] GIGABYTE A5 X1 Gaming Laptop, Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX3070, 16GB, 512GB Gen3 SSD, $1499.00

The previous Gigabyte A5 K1 gaming laptop $1099 deal (canada-computers-gigabyte-gaming-laptop ... 0-2542529/) has ended with the price gone back up to $1449.

But now the Gigabyte A5 X1 is $700 off, to $1499. Is this new deal any good?

Same price at Memory Express too:

Great deal. I bought this laptop 13 days ago and I'm extremely happy. Hopefully I'll be able to price match on Tuesday though.
There is some backlight bleed on the screen (top left to be particular) and the speakers are horrible. Otherwise, solid workstation/gaming laptop.

EDIT: I price matched with absolutely 0 issues.

Possible error in the title?

"16GB DDR4-3200 RAM (2x 16GB)
Dual slots, 64GB max."

Saying there is 2x 16GB

It does seem strange that in terms of an aggressive laptop gaming sale... this would have been Gigabyte's 3rd consecutive gaming laptop that has such an aggressive sale price within the past 2 months. Also with the same companies selling them (CC and Mem Express). You have to wonder what is happening behind the scenes... it isn't like Alienware or MSI is doing such an aggressive sale with this tier of gaming laptop.

The SSD is a downgrade from 1TB to 512GB.
Other than that both CPU and GPU are upgrades

Either gigabyte or cc/me going bankrupt or excess inventory due to demand forecast based on pandemic levels

Probably 6000 series Ryzen and/or RTX 4000 series Mobile GPU are coming soon.

I have a newbie question. If this is a gamer laptop.. then 1080p resolution is a bit low? Should it be a higher resolution display?
Thanks.

Gamers usually prefer high frame rate monitors

You're looking at a 15.6" display so there's no value in higher rez. Maybe with ext monitor. Just played a bit of Borders 3 on my A5 K1. No need for any higher rez as game looks great. Smooth on ultra max settings. Am loving the K1 more I use it. Fast as heck & this one is faster!
